- Aerial & Yoga Sessions -

Aerial Arts & Yoga with Faris

As a certified yoga instructor and Reiki Master, the practice of wholeness and self-exploration has been woven into my life for decades, beginning with meditation in a medical setting at age 13 and evolving through psychodrama, somatic therapy, and a continuing unfoldment of the world within and around. I hold deeply that our body is our laboratory, and we are its only true chemist, that health, at its root, is our holy or "whole" nature, and that it looks different and beautiful in each person.

People often say they come to Faris' Forest Homestead to connect with nature. What they discover is something more intimate: they are nature. At the heart of every session I offer is an honoring of the Tatvas, the elemental forces, as an opening practice and living foundation. My primary teaching style sculpts Tantra (the art of weaving) with Kundalini (the coiling, spiraling life force), exploring how this innate will and energy is threaded through every movement, breath, and interaction.

Yoga, at its essence, is the yoking of spirit and form, and many people practice it without ever calling it that. Simply pausing, arriving in the body, and observing the breath moving in and out can be yoga. These moments of self-awareness are the moments we are truly whole. This practice belongs to everyone, regardless of flexibility, strength, age, or belief. It is a personal discovery, and when that discovery arrives, it carries with it a Satnam: the eternal truth!

Aerial Yoga

Nearly fifteen years ago, the gift of aerial was shared with me by a handful of wonderful teachers. From that first experience, I was hooked. When I moved to Hawaiʻi, my designed our home was built with an aerial space at its heart. For nearly 5 years now I have served as a contracted aerial instructor at The Airhouse with Aerial Arts Hawaii, specializing in Aerial Yoga.

Sharing the exploration of Prana and Asana through the support of the aerial sling is a joy no words can fully hold. The liberation it offers can only be understood through personal experience, and guiding others into that experience is one of the great privileges of my work.

Restorative & Grounded Practice

Alongside aerial, I deeply love offering grounded restorative yoga, a return to the elementary skills we learned as infants, rediscovered with intention. This practice is not only perfect for those navigating physical limitations, age, or early experience; it is especially valuable for anyone needing to slow down, find personal insight, and reconnect with the simple, steady foundation of themselves.

Advanced Aerial - Psychonaut

For students ready to deepen their practice, I offer an advanced aerial series that moves beyond the sling and into open silks, introducing locks, greater body resistance, and meaningful strength development. An existing personal practice is recommended for enrollment, whether in aerial, grounded yoga, or both.

I call this practice Psychonaut, rooted in Psyche, the mind, and -naut, the explorer. It is named with intention as this is a deeper practice, designed for those who are ready not just to build physical skill, but to elevate their inner relationship with movement, breath, and self-discovery requiring more bind through the hasta (hands), Pada (feet) and understanding the Bandas (Binds) that open fabric must make for support. If you are drawn to explore the edges of what your body and awareness can do together, this practice is excellent!

Aerial D&D - Dissection & Direction

The body is a continuously changing puzzle, and physical disciplines like aerial are one of the most honest ways we learn to keep it together. Rooted in intentional dynamics and thoughtful movement, Aerial D&D is an exploration of how aerial works: how the body engages the apparatus, how weight and momentum become language, and how understanding deepens with every session.

Open to all ages 7 and up, these sessions introduce aerial hammock and silk from introductory through advanced levels. It is a particularly wonderful entry point for younger students discovering aerial for the first time, and equally rich for adults approaching these modalities with fresh curiosity and open eyes.
