Healing Through Yoga

Myself, Patrick Faris, am a RYS-200 hr certified and Reiki II practitioner, and has been practicing healing arts in many modes for decades first discovering meditation in a medical setting at age 13. Believing "our body is our laboratory and we are its only true chemist" the truth is we are all healthy at our core, and health is akin to our holy or "whole" nature.

Many have said they love to come to Faris' Forest as it is a place of active healing. It's common to hear people say "I want to connect with nature," when in fact, we all are nature! At the core of Faris' shared practice are the Tatvas, or the elements, which are honored in the opening practice of every Yoga session. Depending on the set focus of the practice shared, this may the core may be Vinyasa (a flowing repeating of asanas or forms), Hatha (poses or asanas held for longer time), or mixed which is common for any yoga session even if said to focus on one or the other.

One main goal of Yoga is to be present with our Breath while in the form as it is appropriate for our body. Many people do Yoga without even knowing it, by just stopping and being present in our body and observing our breath coming and going is yoga, or to "yoke" the spirit and form. These moments of self-awarness are the points in which we are truly whole, and this can be practiced by anyone, regardless of flexibility or strength, age or
beliefs, as yoga is a personal experience, while it can be shared in reflection of people and places, and even things of this world, it is a personal discovery that brings a Satnam unique to each of us!

Almost 13 years ago the prop of aerial supports were discovered from a few wonderful teachers and my first experience with Aerial Yoga was had, I was hooked, and in moving to Hawaii while building our new home we designed our home with the focus of an aerial space at heart. Going on 3 years now I have been a contracted Aerial Teacher at The Airhouse, with Aerial Arts Hawaii, specializing in Aerial Yoga. Sharing this amazing exploration of Prana and Asana with the prop support of Aerial Sling is a joy that no words can describe as the liberation can only be explained through personal experience! In addition to Aerial Yoga, Grounded restorative practices in gentle form are a favorite practice to share, and this isn't just prefect for people who feel limited in physical ability, but is especially great for those needing to slow down and find more personal insight to the set or setting goals with intention and purpose.

Recently I've been sharing a *Free (donations welcomed) Saturday morning gentle yoga class at The Airhouse in Hilo, that was inspired by attending a Stoke support group at Hilo Medical center for the last 4 years.
